Recognition of qualifications from Uganda in the UK

Most universities have a working knowledge of qualifications issued in Uganda and the admissions officer or international office should be able to provide information on what they will accept for their institution. If you are in any doubt about your qualification or would like information on the UK equivalent, please contact the British Council in Kampala.

The organisation responsible for compiling information on international qualification for the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills is the National Academic Recognition Information Centre.

Recognition of UK qualification in Ugand

UK qualifications are recognised all over the world. If in doubt please find out from the Ministry of Education and Sports, Uganda, about the recognition of the qualifications you are going to attain. If you are following a vocational or professional course you should check with the leading professional body for that profession in Uganda. The British Council office in Kampala will be able to offer you more advice.

Notice to Ugandans in the UK & Ireland

Ugandan Citizens visiting or residing in the United Kingdom and Ireland are encouraged to register with Uganda’s Mission in London.

Benefits of registration:

1. Registration will make your presence and whereabouts known in case it is necessary to contact you in an emergency.

2. We need to regularly update our citizens with up-to-date information from Uganda.

3. We need to reunite lost and found documents with their owners. Some of these documents have been returned to us by UK authorities after failing to trace the owners. Over 950 passports, 130 birth certificates, 7 marriage certificates and 2 death certificates have been returned to the Mission and await collection by their owners.
