Tour Operators
There is currently over 150 tour and travel operators in the country. These operators offer information that visitors (tourists) to Uganda need to know about the destination Uganda to aid their travel. Visitors to Uganda must depend on these tour operators to deal with them honestly and competently. The operators must provide their clients with the product or service as advertised/promoted in a brochure or website or as contracted for.
There are many opportunities for new and innovative tour operators who have international contacts and are able to market Uganda internationally as a new destination based on the special attractions currently being promoted by Uganda Tourist Board. These attractions include: -· Adventure Holidays
· Sport Fishing
· Eco-tourism
· Avi-Tourism (Bird Watching)
Uganda is emerging as a long-haul destination, especially for specialty tours. Uganda is increasingly seen as an up-scale tourist destination with a mix of ecological flavour and limited adventure.
Ugandan tour operators have established high standards in the industry. Foremost is the principle of ethical conduct, which requires operators to conduct business according to a set of professional standards. Additionally, operators must represent all facts, conditions and requirements relating to tours and vacation packages truthfully and accurately.
The Association of Uganda Tour Operators
The Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO) is Uganda's leading tourism trade association, representing the interests of the countries leading and experienced professional tour operators. Members offer a range of services, which can be broadly divided into the following categories:- Special interest safar
- Air safaris
- Incentive travel group safaris
- Custom safaris for individual traveller
- Camping safaris (luxury & budget)
Membership of the association is open to those organizations whose primary activities are the planning, marketing and execution of package tours in Uganda. Members must be limited companies registered in Uganda, and must have the minimum infrastructure and staffing to allow them to carry out their activities in accordance with the Association’s Code of Conduct.

Uganda Tourism Association
The Uganda Tourism Association is the apex body of tourist trade associations within the private sector. It exists to bring together, establish and maintain a forum for these associations. Its main objective is to coordinate private sector activities, act as the industry spokesperson and therefore link the private sector and the Ministry of Tourism, Trade & Industry.
